On Saturday 18 June the delegation set out for another memorable day in the hot sun. They began their day at Masada. Masada is a fortress which is situated on top of an isolated rock cliff at the western end of the Judean Desert, overlooking the Dead Sea. It is a place of gaunt and majestic beauty.
From here they went on to visit the famous Dead Sea. The Dead Sea is one of the most spectacular natural and spiritual landscapes in the whole world, the lowest point on earth.
The whole delegation floated in the Dead Sea, which is an incredible experience in itself, then ended with the famous rubbing of the black mud into their skin. A fast fact – the Dead Sea has 10 times the mineral concentration of the oceans and these minerals have powerfully effective effects for your skin and health, so expect to see a younger looking delegation!
The night ended with a dinner with the Peace Team. There were a number of speeches, which included Martin Flanagan, Journalist for the Age Newspaper, giving the peace team some history of our favourite. Australian sport – AFL, and Brian, CEO Integrated giving the team a few words of wisdom and support. Brian then presented to each player a training Guernsey, which was supplied by Fremantle football club.
The peace team boys are very excited to travel to Australia in 7 weeks time, and are very passionate in what they are doing. Their enthusiasm & energy they show on and off the field is very inspiring. They have the hunger to show Australia that Palestinians’ & Israeli’s can work together and win the 2011 AFL International Cup.
Until next time.
